OS: Windows Server 2008 SP2.
MS SQL Server 10.0.1600.22
I am the administrator of the computer and of the SQL Server, also the owner of the database.
I have installed a local Publication.
For whatever reason I need to delete it from this server.
I tried with right-click Delete and with Disable Publishing and Distribution. The same result:
“TITLE: Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo
SQL Server could not disable publishing and distribution on <computer-name>\<sqlServerName>.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
Cannot execute as the database principal because the principal "dbo" does not exist, this type of principal cannot be impersonated, or you do not have permission.
Changed database context to 'master'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15517)”
I also tried:
exec sp_removedbreplication N'<sqlServerName>'
exec sp_droppublication @publication = N'<sqlServerName>'
exec sp_changedbowner @loginame = 'sa'
What exactly is the meaning of: because the principal "dbo" does not exist, this type of principal cannot be impersonated, or you do not have permission. ?
Because in fact dbo exists and my account has dbo permissions.
Thank you very much,
Dan

Is there a difference in the cost of using P2P replication instead of Merge Replication. Which costs more and why.
What H/W and S/W do I have to have for each technology.
Do I need licenses.
I've seen some similar questions, but want to make sure I can get an answer quickly and how to fix.
Thanks,
Paul
spid24s Error: 28005, Severity: 16, State: 2
spid24s An exception occurred while enqueueing a message in the target queue. Error: 15517, State: 1. Cannot execute as the database principal because the principal "dbo" does not exist, this type of principal cannot be impersonated, or you do not have permission.
My merge subscribers aren't members of sysadmin/db_owner and my publisher is running out of identity ranges assigned identity ranges. I understand I can manually run sp_adjustpublisheridentityranger on the db to fix the issue.
My question is if all subscribers sync before the publisher's range is consumed will it automatically get a new range even though subscribers are not sysadmin/db_owner? I can increase the publisher's range but I see no point if it's just going to delay the inevitable requirement for me to manually run sp_adjust...
Thanks!

Replication was running fine for a while and then it started through the following error. Does anyone know why it's doing that?
Command attempted:I then executed the following code and got back the command that replication is trying to execute and brought back two rows. It seems like the second row is the continuation on the first record. Command ID is 30927 and 30928. I can see the stored proc and data that it's trying to execute on both rows. But why is failing? Any ideas?

But still, no luck... Whats up with this admin account?

Hi all.
I have this problem but have many try but can't solve this.I have setup an SQL Server 2008 replication database, after complete setup, the replication do preparing table, bulk copy database, apply script... but at the end it is stuck in "Waiting 60 second(s) before polling for further changes." and "No data need to be merged" forever, I know that it must show a complete message, how can I fix this this.
Best regards and thanks very much.
I'm trying to setup a merge replication between two SQL 2012 servers. I test it on a small dictionary table, which has a primary key (int identity - marked as "not for replication") and is referenced by other tables (they are empty at the moment). Creating a publication causes that a rowguid column is added on the publisher. When I try to create a subscription, during initialization I get: "column 'rowguid' in table 'Test' is invalid for creating a default constraint" error. I do the modifications with UI (Wizards). I assume that SQL server is trying to add a rowguid column on the publisher and it fails. The target table has few records but I think that the same problem is when it is empty. I understand that the table cannot be dropped and created because it is referenced by foreign key. Is there any publication option that can fix this problem? I don't want to drop foreign keys on subscriber.
I also tried to initialize the subscriber with a backup but it seems that the rowguid column is not included in the backup.

hi,
im using sql server 2012 and transactional replication in it. im trying to replicate a view which has a specific database role attached in the permissions. this is my replications script for the view
:setvar SubscriberDB "ReplicationSubscriberDB" :setvar SubscriberServerName "HYDHTC0131320D\MSSQLSERVER2" :setvar PublisherDB "PublisherDB" :setvar PublisherServerName "HYDHTC0131320D" :setvar ReplicationAccount "myusername" :setvar ReplicationAccountPassword "mypassword" GO :on error exit GO exec sp_addpublication @publication = N'DepartmentsView', @description = N'Transactional publication of database from Publisher ''$(PublisherServerName)''.', @sync_method = N'concurrent', @retention = 0, @allow_push = N'true', @allow_pull = N'true', @allow_anonymous = N'false', @enabled_for_internet = N'false', @snapshot_in_defaultfolder = N'true', @compress_snapshot = N'false', @allow_subscription_copy = N'false', @add_to_active_directory = N'false', @repl_freq = N'continuous', @status = N'active', @independent_agent = N'true', @immediate_sync = N'true', @allow_sync_tran = N'false', @autogen_sync_procs = N'false', @allow_queued_tran = N'false', @allow_dts = N'false', @replicate_ddl = 1, @allow_initialize_from_backup = N'false', @enabled_for_p2p = N'false', @enabled_for_het_sub = N'false' GO exec sp_addpublication_snapshot @publication = N'DepartmentsView', @frequency_type = 1, @frequency_interval = 0, @frequency_relative_interval = 0, @frequency_recurrence_factor = 0, @frequency_subday = 0, @frequency_subday_interval = 0, @active_start_time_of_day = 0, @active_end_time_of_day = 235959, @active_start_date = 0, @active_end_date = 0, @job_login = N'$(ReplicationAccount)', @job_password = '$(ReplicationAccountPassword)', @publisher_security_mode = 1 GO exec sp_addarticle @publication = N'DepartmentsView', @article = N'vwDepartments', @source_owner = N'dbo', @source_object = N'vwDepartments', @type = N'view schema only', @description = null, @creation_script = null, @pre_creation_cmd = N'drop', @schema_option = 0x48000001, @destination_table = N'vwDepartments', @destination_owner = N'dbo' GO EXEC sp_startpublication_snapshot @publication = N'DepartmentsView' GO use [$(PublisherDB)] GO exec sp_addsubscription @publication = N'DepartmentsView', @subscriber = N'$(SubscriberServerName)', @destination_db = N'$(SubscriberDB)', @subscription_type = N'Push', @sync_type = N'automatic', @article = N'all', @update_mode = N'read only', @subscriber_type = 0 GO exec sp_addpushsubscription_agent @publication = N'DepartmentsView', @subscriber = N'$(SubscriberServerName)', @subscriber_db = N'$(SubscriberDB)', @job_login = N'$(ReplicationAccount)', @job_password = '$(ReplicationAccountPassword)', @subscriber_security_mode = 1, @frequency_type = 4, @frequency_interval = 1, @frequency_relative_interval = 0, @frequency_recurrence_factor = 0, @frequency_subday = 8, @frequency_subday_interval = 6, @active_start_time_of_day = 0, @active_end_time_of_day = 235959, @active_start_date = 20120607, @active_end_date = 99991231, @enabled_for_syncmgr = N'False', @dts_package_location = N'Distributor' GO
after replicating, the view is getting created but the role is not getting attached to permissions of the view. this role is present in both publisher and subscriber databases. and this roles is assigned to the table used in the view and the table exists on both the databases.
i tried setting the schema_option to 0x48000001 which is
1. Generates the object creation script (CREATE TABLE, CREATE PROCEDURE, and so on). This value is the default for stored procedure articles.
2. Create any schemas not already present on the subscriber.
3. Replicate permissions.
i have also gone through this post, http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreplication/thread/a4fa2d32-00ea-47a7-9276-52764fab72ae/ which says above schema_option value should work. or we have to use @post_snapshot_script in sp_addpublication.
i tried with @post_snapshot_script and it is working, but i dont want to use this approach.
please let me know how to solve this problem.
thanks in advance.
I'm trying to setup a merge replication between two SQL Servers (2012 version). Some problems are solved but at least for one table I get an error when a record is updated on the Subscriber. The error message is confusing for me; it says that either there is a problem with a constraint, or the user has no permission to perform the operation. Since with other tables the replication works correctly I assume that this is not a problem with the user. And this leads to my first question: where exactly can I change agent parameters in order to log errors to a log file? Everywhere I check the agents profiles are read-only. Should I create a new profile or simply specify additional parameters in the agent's job? I actually added -Output "C:\agent.txt" -OutputVerboseLevel 3 parameters to the job but the output file was not created.
The second question is about the table that cannot be replicated back to the publisher when it was updated on the subscriber. It has three unique key constraints (one on the Id column - primary key, the second on some code column and the third on Name column). It has also a trigger that stores the previous version of a record in another table. Of course it has also [rowguid] column with unique index. On the subscriber I try to update a column that is not in unique key constraint. This causes the error mentioned above. Any ideas?

DECLARE @publicationDB AS sysname; DECLARE @publication AS sysname; DECLARE @login AS sysname; DECLARE @password AS sysname; SET @publicationDB = N'cccsql'; SET @publication = N'cccsqlMerge'; SET @login = $(Login); SET @password = $(Password); -- Enable merge replication on the publication database. USE master EXEC sp_replicationdboption @dbname = @publicationDB, @optname=N'merge publish', @value = N'true'; -- Create new merge publication, using the defaults. USE [cccsql] EXEC sp_addmergepublication @publication = @publication, @description = N'Merge publication.'; -- Create a new snapshot job for the publication, using the defaults. EXEC sp_addpublication_snapshot @publication = @publication, @job_login = @login, @job_password = @password; -- Start the Snapshot Agent job. EXEC sp_startpublication_snapshot @publication = @publication; GO
Highlighted in bold how do I write/set the Login and password if using SQL Server Authentication..?
Thank you

Hello,
I am setting up merge replication with web sync between a server in a workgroup (SQL
server 2012/iis 7) and a remote server. My question is: Do I have to install
the server SSL Certificate on the certification store of the remote subscriber
in order for merge replication with web sync to work?

What does the 10GB limitation refer to, please explain to a novice, see link. Can the database be bigger than 10GB. Do you have documentation!
Thanks,
I'm looking for an idea of replication architecture (SQL 2012). I need to copy some data from several servers to a central server (in one direction only). I want to minimize the efforts to configure and manage the replication. Can this be setup on the central server, or I need to configure the replication on each server separately?

To get an advance warning, can I set the size limit to well under 10GB just to get an early warning. When the database reaches my limit, I'll get the allocation error messages. Could I then manually adjust the size up to 10GB and soon there after install the Standard Express edition.
What do you think is this a good idea or not?
How do I set the size limitation below 10BG. Is there some type of auto grow mechanism.
Do you have any documentation.
Thanks,
